Galway For Life Charter
Galway For Life is an organisation dedicated to the spread of information on all issues that threaten Human Life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.
Galway For Life is interdenominational and welcomes people of all creeds or none provided they subscribe unreservedly to the fundamental objectives of the organisation.
Galway For Life is non-party political and is open to members of all political parties, or none.
Galway For Life’s stated objective is to focus, primarily, on all life-related issues in Galway City and County.
Galway For Life subscribes to the democratic principles on which the Irish State and Constitution are founded and for this reason it will be a caring and sympathetic organisation, exercising moderation and respect towards all in pursuit of its objectives.
Galway For Life believes that there are no medical circumstances justifying direct abortion.
Galway For Life is satisfied that while abortion has never been available in Ireland, this has never prevented the medical profession from giving mothers all due medical care at all times.
Galway For Life’s main objective is to ensure that abortion will never be permitted in Ireland and to strive for the full restoration of constitutional and legislative protection for life before birth.
Galway For Life does not place the right to life of the child before that of the mother. These rights are complementary and not in conflict.
Galway For Life is concerned about the welfare of women and mothers. It is particularly supportive of organisations assisting women with crisis pregnancies and with helping women who suffer trauma after abortion.
Galway For Life considers the right to life of the unborn child to be a fundamental human right, to which everybody can subscribe. It also recognises that, for those who believe in God, fundamental human rights are reinforced by the consideration that all human life is sacred and that they have a God given and moral origin.
Galway For Life considers that articles 2.1 and 3 of the European Convention for the protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms are fully applicable to the unborn child. It calls on the Governments of the European Union and the European Union to take measures to respect and vindicate those rights within the European Union.
